The Roman Theater of Carthage

The International Festival of Carthage presented, as part of its 55th session, an exceptional show entitled “Le Gand Gala de l’Opéra Italien” on Friday August 23. 2019 performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the “Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese”.

In front of a savvy and curious audience coming to discover this great show, and in presence of M. Mohamed Zinelabidine, Minister of Cultural Affairs and M. Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy in Tunisia, the Orchetsre and Choir of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese offered a selection of the most famous melodies of the Italian Opera.

This concert, entitled “Le Gand Gala de l’Opéra Italien”, is the first one in a series of concerts that the Ente luglio Musicale Trapanese will present in the Roman theaters of the Mediterranean capitals following a whole process of celebration of this common heritage and to celebrate the intercultural dialogue between the nations of the countries of the Mediterranean.

With more than a hundred musicians and choristers on the prestigious scene of the Roman Theater conducted by Maestro Andrea Certa who has already conducted the Orchestra of the Aida Opera in 2018 in the Roman Theaters of El Jem and Carthage, and with the direction of the Choir by Fabio Modica, it was a fabulous journey through which the Ente Luglio Musicale Trappanese took the audience of Carthage with the masterpieces of the Italian melodrama with symphonies that have made the glory of the opera of this friend country. Nabucco, Trovatore, the Barber of Seville, Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmen, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Bellini and Rossini, performed by four world-class soloists namely: Francesca Sassu, Sergio Vitale, Angelo Villari and Valeria Tornatore. A pure delight that unfortunately lasted only for an hour, like all the good and beautiful tales. This concert will be engraved in the annals of the International Festival of Carthage and will enrich its already rich heritage of performances of great artistic quality like “Swan Lake” that was performed by the Saint Petersburg Ballet, as the opening show of this 55th session.
