The International Festival of Carthage
55th session
Hadhret Sidi Ben Aissa from Meknes
Saturday August 10, 2019
The Roman Theater of Carthage
It is with a troupe of spiritual songs from Morocco that the audience of Carthage met on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in a journey of spirituality and meditation. With more than thirty singers and instrumentalists this troupe has presented for the first time, a quite exceptional show merging the traditional songs of Morocco with sounds of contemporary instruments including drums and organ, which has given to their performance a touch of modernity.
At exactly 22:00, the artist of the band went on the prestigious scene of Carthage to perform on of the best shows ever. The spectacle started with a “Dakhla” with the colorful “Rayets” of Sidi Ben Aissa while singers performed the best songs from the repertoire of the brotherhood of Sidi Ben Aissa on traditional Moroccan rhythms.
This troupe was founded in 2000 by the masters of the Tarika of Sidi Mhamed Ben Aissa of Meknes with the participation of several young artists. The idea of the show was inspired from the old and very rich repertoire of Aissaoui which dedicate the totality of songs to the Dikher. Very popular in Morocco, Hadhret Ben Aissa is always present in the most known festivals as well as in all the national, regional and even private religious ceremonies. Its founder first worked to root this practice among young people to preserve this heritage while innovating it by introducing a touch of modern music with contemporary instruments.
A beautiful show that amazed the savvy audience present that night.
