The Media Center of the Roman Theater of Carthage
The International Festival of Carthage, for its 55th session, is honoring Palestine with a show animated by the great voice and the comedian Reem Talhami and the young artists of the band “Al Ens Wal Jam” created in 2017. And it was during the press conference held on Thursday August 01. 2019 at the Media Center of the Roman Theater that the media representatives were able to exchange with these two ambassadors of Palestine.
« For this exceptional evening that I will share with the young artists of the band “Al Ens Wal Jam” on the prestigious scene of Carthage, I’ve prepared a selection of the best songs of mine lasting about 50-minute through which I will take the audience of Carthage into a journey through the different genres of music. The scene of the Roman Theater of Carthage represents an exceptional space for me since I performed on it with the great Maestro Mohamed Garfi on 1992.” Said Reem Talhami during the press conference.
She added: « I have never wanted to be an ordinary singer, I’ve always looked for new ways to present my songs, since commitment for me should not necessarily be shown through singing for the Palestinian cause, and revolutionary themes, times have changed and even notions have changed, we ourselves have changed too and our reality also, the only thing that persists is colonization “.
Reem Talhami, despite her long musical and theatrical career, remains one of the less known Palestinian artists for the Media. She described her status as being an artist who likes to work in silence, and who does not really want to invade the media.
Known for their very famous tube on the social networks with thousands of views on YouTube « Taralally », the Palestinian band « Al Ens Wal Jam » created in 2017 were present also for the press conference and they said that the name they chose for their group was inspired from two words, “Al Ens” which means Humans and “El Jam” which means the status of exchange and fusion of ideas and actons.
The members of the group said that the idea of creating “Al Ens Wal Jam” came almost spontaneously and was inspired from the synergy, the complicity and the friendship that brings them together. They are all musicians and every one of them has his own musical orientations and choices: jazz, blues or oriental music, giving thus a new image to the Palestinian music. A kind of friendly meeting, an exchange where everyone brings his feelings and emotions to write together this new kind of music where the friendly atmosphere that brings them together reigns. A new vision of a melancholic Palestinian song that tells the story of everyday life, the impossible love, the unimaginable parts of life, a song that tells, describes and inspires the joy they play together.
